For DFMEA reviewers

Catch the DFMEA mistakes your reviewers miss

Empty Prevention Controls on Sev-10 rows. Vague "Bad design" causes. Supplier-blame in places it doesn't belong. Specwarden catches all three in seconds — and 60+ other audit-grade checks.

How it works

Upload your DFMEA

Drop in your spreadsheet — .xlsx, .xls, .csv, or .docx. Specwarden detects AIAG-RPN or AIAG-VDA format automatically. No configuration.

Review runs in under 60 seconds

7 deterministic rule checks run first, then Claude Sonnet reads every row for supplier-blame causes, vague language, and missing rationale.

Why choose Specwarden for DFMEA

7 rules

always run — even if AI degrades

Empty fields, out-of-range S/O/D ratings, wrong RPN arithmetic — 7 hard-coded checks run on every review. You always get a baseline, even if Anthropic is down.

60+

audit-grade checks per review

Beyond the 7 rule checks, the AI reviewer covers supplier-blame causes, vague language, missing rationale, and post-action validation — the checks senior reviewers do in hours.

Zero

files stored server-side

Your DFMEA is parsed inside the request, then immediately discarded. Findings are delivered to your browser and stay there. We store counts and metadata only.

What we catch

Tier-2 supplier-blame detection

The most-flagged audit failure: "supplier delivered bad parts" written as a design cause. Specwarden distinguishes design-spec gaps from supplier execution failures.

AIAG-RPN and AIAG-VDA auto-detected

Bring your existing 10-column AIAG sheet or the 16-column AIAG-VDA Handbook format. Specwarden detects which standard you're using and applies the correct rule set.

Deterministic rule floor — always runs

7 hard-coded rule checks (RPN arithmetic, field completeness, S/O/D range validation) run on every review regardless of AI status. You always get a baseline — even if Anthropic is down.

Built for engineering teams reviewing high-stakes technical documents.

Workflow proof

Reviews engineering documents against risk and compliance criteria

Use-case proof

Designed for FMEA, specs, quality checks, and design review workflows

Beta proof

Private beta feedback from technical reviewers and operators

Post-action closed-loop validation — included on all plans

AIAG-VDA §2.6.3 requires verifying that post-action revised ratings are populated when due. Specwarden checks that revised S/O/D values are filled in after the target date passes, that revised RPN arithmetic is correct, and that Severity hasn't been silently reduced (Severity is design-intrinsic — engineering actions reduce Occurrence and Detection, not Severity).

Questions about DFMEA review

Does Specwarden replace senior reviewers?
No — it replaces the first 60 minutes of their review. Senior reviewers catch judgment calls, cross-system failure chains, and company-specific policy violations that Specwarden doesn't model. Specwarden catches the rule violations and pattern failures that waste senior reviewer time.
Will this find the "obvious" miss too?
Yes. The deterministic rule engine catches empty required fields, out-of-range S/O/D ratings, and wrong RPN arithmetic before any AI runs. These are the misses that look embarrassing in a design review.
Does it work on the AIAG-VDA 16-column format?
Yes. Specwarden auto-detects AIAG-VDA format from column headers and applies the Action Priority lookup verification checks instead of RPN arithmetic checks.
